Plooto names Pratik Rathod Chief Product Officer to lead next phase of product investment

Former Xero product leader joins to accelerate automated financial workflows for accountants, bookkeepers, and their clients across Canada

TORONTO, Sept. 10, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Plooto, the payment automation platform helping accountants and their clients streamline financial workflows, announced the appointment of Pratik Rathod as its new Chief Product Officer (CPO). The hire represents a significant investment in the future of the platform, underscoring the company's focus on building smarter, more connected solutions for accountants, bookkeepers, and the small and mid-size businesses they serve.

Rathod brings deep experience building financial software at scale, most recently serving as Head of Product - Spend Management at Xero. There, he led the teams responsible for how millions of small businesses around the globe manage their bills, receipts, and accounts payable. Previously, he co-founded Polar, where he spent nearly ten years building the product, and served as VP Product at TOOLBX.

At Plooto, Rathod will lead product strategy and execution, with a mandate to harness the voice of the customer and iterate fast to help them do more jobs automatically. The resulting roadmap will bring a holistic business payments workflow into a single, connected place, with a meticulous focus on what accountants and bookkeepers need to serve their clients.

“Behind most Canadian small businesses is an accountant or a bookkeeper doing the work that keeps the business running: paying suppliers, chasing receivables, closing the books,” Rathod said. “That relationship is the most underserved part of this market. Plooto has spent a decade building for them and earned their trust. I joined to make that work faster and safer, so one practice can confidently serve more businesses and help every one of them flourish.”

Rathod's appointment signals Plooto's investment in strategic leadership and product innovation, laying the groundwork for accelerated development in the year ahead. Plooto will support SMBs’ access to working capital in the coming months, providing a solution to the persistent cash flow constraints many businesses face. Together, these moves reinforce Plooto's commitment to delivering an incredible platform experience for accountants and bookkeepers, while serving every financial workflow need their SMB clients have.

“We have a clear vision for a future where accountants and bookkeepers can run their entire book of business and all financial workflows from one place,” said John McLane, CEO of Plooto. “Bringing Pratik on board is a critical step in making that vision reality. We have the technology and the team to support our customers well, and I’m excited for the focus and depth of industry knowledge Pratik's leadership will bring to accelerate impact for Canadian businesses.”
